I'll come back when everybody's on the same page...
Joel's Note: Guess which one is a quote from the Bible! Guess why the other sign decided to contradict a direct quote from the Bible! (I can only answer one of those two...).

...and when you find that nation, please let me know.
Joel's Note: I love it when churches decide to make their own translation of the Bible.

Some of the signs posted certainly deserve to be called crummy, and for that, I'm glad for this blog.
ReplyDeleteOther times it seems people are just being arbitrarily snarky.
Tell me what's crummy about a church quoting the Bible on their sign?
And, Joel, check out Psalm 33:12 in the Amplified Bible or the New Century Version.
Oh, there's nothing wrong with that sign. It was basically posted to contrast with the OTHER sign to show it's crumminess.
ReplyDeleteI can't deny the arbitrarily snarky, though. That's us!
So speaking of arbitrary snarkiness...
ReplyDeleteTo me the funniest thing in this post was the falling down Y in the first sign. I think the letter Y is too intellectually curious to do well on a church sign.
Those two churches re: days and years counting or not counting, are within about five minute drive of each other. Not across the street, by any means, but close enough for comparison work.
ReplyDeleteThe crumminess density around here is boggling -- with at least three new church buildings coming up right now in my crumminess "sphere of influence" (ie within a 6 or so mile radius from my home and/or office.
I'm ready for them.
The choice is yours!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one who thought of Captain Planet?
"Guess why the other sign decided to contradict a direct quote from the Bible!"
ReplyDeleteUm, because they're touchy-feely post-modern Methodists? Just a guess. (I feel for that y, too.)
I don't think the choice is paper or plastic... judging from the name of the church, it's probably more of an Evian or Dasani kind of thing.
